Privacy Policy
Last updated July 4, 2026
This is a plain-English policy written by Baker Shop USA Incorporated to be clear about how Everbound works. It is provided for transparency and is not certified legal advice. If anything here is unclear, email us at hello@philiplaney.com.
Everbound is a service operated by Baker Shop USA Incorporated(“we”, “us”, “our”). This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use everbound.philiplaney.com, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. We’ve tried to keep it plain and honest.
The short version: you create an account as an adult, tell us a few details about the child a book is for, and we generate a personalised story and illustrations. We use a handful of trusted service providers to do that. We don’t sell your information, and we don’t run advertising trackers.
Who we are
The service is operated by Baker Shop USA Incorporated. For any privacy question or request, contact us at hello@philiplaney.com. We can also receive requests by post; email us and we’ll provide a mailing address.
Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account we collect your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your name and basic Google profile details. If you use email-and-password sign-in, Supabase (our authentication provider) manages your password securely — we never see it in plain text.
The details you give us to make a book
When you create a book you provide information about the child who is its hero:
- the child’s first name;
- a description of their appearance (such as hair, skin tone, and a favourite colour);
- a few personality traits;
- a story theme; and
- an optional dedication message, which you write and which often includes names and an occasion.
From these details we generate story text and illustrations that depict the named child. That generated content is stored in your account.
Waitlist / interest
Printing and Kindle export aren’t available to buy yet. When you ask to be told when they open, we record your email addressand which option you were interested in, and — only if you tick the optional box — that you’d like occasional Everbound news. No payment is taken.
Technical information
We use only the essential cookies needed to keep you signed in (see our Cookie notice). We do not use analytics, advertising, or cross-site tracking cookies.
How we use your information
- to create your account and let you sign in;
- to generate, store, and display your personalised books;
- to respond to you and provide support;
- to tell you when print/Kindle become available (and, if you opted in, occasional product news);
- to keep the service secure and working, and to comply with the law.
We rely on your consent (which you give by creating a book and, for the child’s details, by confirming you’re the parent or guardian), and on our legitimate interest in running and improving the service.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers who help us run Everbound, and only as needed:
- Anthropic— to write the story, we send the child’s name, the described appearance and traits, the theme, and the dedication text to Anthropic’s Claude model.
- fal.ai— to draw the illustrations, we send the child’s name and physical description, plus reference images, to fal.ai’s image models.
- Supabase — hosts our database and manages authentication; your account and book data are stored here.
- Vercel — hosts the website and stores generated images. Please note that generated images are stored on public, address-based storage: anyone who has the exact image link can view it. The links use a long random suffix so they can’t easily be guessed, but they are not behind a login. Don’t share a link you’d rather keep private.
- Slack — when someone joins the print/Kindle waitlist, we send ourselves a notification. This message is deliberately limited to the event and the book title; it does not include your name or email.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
Children’s privacy (COPPA)
Everbound is designed to be used by adults. Accounts, billing, and all decisions are always adult-owned. We do not knowingly allow children to create accounts, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.
A book is abouta child, and the details about that child are provided by the adult account holder. When you create a book you confirm that you are the child’s parent or legal guardian(or otherwise authorised), that you are at least 18, and that you consent to us using those details to make the book. Please only enter information you’re comfortable providing, and avoid sensitive details.
If you believe a child has provided us information without a parent’s involvement, or you want a child’s information deleted, email hello@philiplaney.com and we will delete it promptly.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live (including under the California Consumer Privacy Act), you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we hold about you;
- Access a copy of it;
- Correct information that’s wrong;
- Delete your account and its data;
- Opt out of marketing at any time.
We do not sell or “share” your personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we do not use your data to profile you for ads. To exercise any right, email hello@philiplaney.comfrom the address on your account, or use the unsubscribe instructions in any email we send. We won’t discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Marketing and unsubscribing
We’ll only send you Everbound news if you opted in. You can opt out any time by replying to any such email or writing to hello@philiplaney.com. We’ll still send essential service messages (for example, telling you when the feature you asked about opens).
Data retention
We keep your account and book data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards so you can come back to it. When you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal information from our systems, except anything we’re required to keep by law. Note that content already sent to our AI providers to generate a book is handled under their retention terms.
Security
We protect your data with database-level access controls so that you can only see your own account’s books, encrypted connections, and provider security controls. No online service can be perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to keep your information safe.
“Do Not Track”
Because we don’t track you across other websites, we treat every visitor the same regardless of any browser “Do Not Track” signal.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Everboundgrows (for example, when real checkout and printing go live). When we make a material change we’ll update the date above, and we’ll tell you if the change is significant.
